Some studios teach you how to move.
This one teaches you how to come home.

For every body, every gender, every level, every day. A movement studio built on a single, non-negotiable principle: dance belongs to everyone, and the room must reflect that. Most of our students describe what happens here as therapeutic, part of how they care for their mental health, a place to leave the world at the door.

What we stand for.

To create a movement studio where every person, regardless of body, gender, age, ability, or experience, feels at home in their own skin.

i.

Inclusive by Design

Every class, every instructor, every studio rule built around radical accessibility. No body is wrong here.

ii.

Safer by Policy

Zero tolerance for harmful or hurtful behavior. Students can be brave because they are first protected.

iii.

Met Where You Are

Our teachers work from your starting point, not someone else's. The journey is yours, and we make it fun.

iv.

Movement as Homecoming

Dance isn't just exercise. It's a return to the body that's been yours all along.

Six disciplines. One philosophy.

From your first class to your hundredth, we meet you exactly where you are.

I.

Pole

Strength, sensuality, and self-trust. The discipline that started it all.

II.

Heels

Power, grace, and presence. Choreographed dance built around the stiletto.

III.

Contemporary

Emotive, fluid, expressive. Movement as a language.

IV.

Latin

Salsa, bachata, reggaeton. The rhythm of celebration.

V.

Afrobeats

Joy in motion. Cultural movement rooted in community.

VI.

Hip Hop

Rhythm, attitude, and authentic self-expression. Culture in motion.

Sada Valasquez, founder of In Your Skin Studio

Sada taught herself to pole dance. Then she built a studio.

Self-taught in 2009. Miss Pole New England by 2012. Studio founder by 2018 in a 750-square-foot living room. Today, IYS occupies a 1,500-square-foot flagship with eight poles, seven aerial silks, and a community that refuses to stay small.

Student Survey

A safe, supportive, comfortable, and loving space to express myself in any way I show up. In Your Skin has helped form me in so many ways, in the best ways. I'm so grateful to Sada and the IYS community for the growth I've made and the support I have always felt stepping in those doors.

In Your Skin not only gives me the confidence to move in my own body, but gives me the opportunity to celebrate the successes and growth seen by everyone in each class I take. To be a part of a community this strong is pretty magical.

The questions everyone has before their first class.

Real answers to the worries that almost stopped you from booking.

Do I need to be flexible, in shape, or have any dance experience?
No. The most common worry our students share before their first class is "I wasn't sure I was experienced enough." Every single one was wrong. Most of our students hadn't danced in years (or ever) before walking through our doors. Our beginner classes are built for absolute beginners. You don't need flexibility, fitness, or rhythm to start. You build all three with us.
I'm a man. Is IYS really for me?
Yes. Every class, every discipline, every space at IYS is open to all genders. Our community includes male students who pole, dance Latin, take heels, and train alongside everyone else. Our instructors and our policies are explicit: this is a studio for every body, every gender, every level.
What do I wear to my first class?
For pole: shorts and a fitted tank or sports bra (skin contact with the pole is what keeps you on it). For dance classes: leggings or shorts and a comfortable top. For heels: bring your heels or borrow from our practice pairs. We'll send you a "what to expect" email after you book that walks through everything for your specific class.
What if I'm nervous or don't know anyone?
Most of our students walked in alone the first time, and almost all of them describe feeling nervous beforehand. The most common thing they say after their first class is that the studio feels like family. Our instructors and front-desk team are trained to make first-timers feel welcome from the door. Bring a friend if you want, but you absolutely don't need to.
How is this different from a regular gym or fitness class?
A gym treats your body as a machine to optimize. We treat your body as a place to come home to. The fitness happens (you will get stronger and more flexible), but the goal is bigger: confidence, self-expression, and a community that celebrates the body you're in right now, not the one you "should" be working toward.
Is the studio safe and inclusive for all body types?
Yes. Inclusivity isn't a tagline here, it's a policy. We have a zero-tolerance rule for harmful or hurtful behavior, our instructors are trained to teach to every body type, and we offer a weekly pay-what-you-can class so cost isn't a barrier. If you've been turned away or made to feel wrong in other movement spaces, IYS is built for you specifically.
What does the New Student Deal include?
Two full weeks of unlimited classes for $99. Use it across as many class types as you want: pole, heels, Latin, Afrobeats, Hip Hop, Contemporary. It's the best way to figure out which disciplines you love before committing to a longer membership.
Where are you located, and is there parking?
We're at 21 Broad Street in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, just off I-95. There is a free parking garage at the end of the street, plus free street parking around the building. We're a quick drive from Providence, Cumberland, East Providence, and most of the metro area.
